Westgate Pet Clinic hosts second Feline Spay/Neuter day

Written by Administrator.

On October 10th, Westgate Pet Clinic again partnered with the Minnesota Spay/Neuter Project, to aid low income families in need of having their cats spayed or neutered. Our doctors volunteered their time, and the surgeries were done at cost to make the surgery affordable for these needy pet owners. In total, we spayed 17 females and neutered 17 male cats.

Cats are very prolific breeders. If we assume that one female cat could have 2 litters a year with 4 kittens in each litter, and half of those kittens are female, then within 5 years, one female cat and their offspring could produce 1,116 kittens. That means that Westgate Pet Clinic prevented 18,972 unwanted kittens from being relinquished to shelters or left on the street.

Many thanks to our doctors: Dr. Karlin, Dr. Mirodone and Dr. Hershey, our technicians: Leslie, Tricia, Kelli, Amy and Erin, and our Assistants: Liz, Amy, Kelly and Abby.
